If you are working with a site/histology that only summary stages and you need to directly code it, please use the SEER Summary Stage 2000 manual

Notes

C111 Pharyngeal tonsil **Note 1:** This schema is based on the UICC chapter *Pharynx,* pages 30-38. * **Site-Specific Factor 25, Nasopharynx/PharyngealTonsil** is used to discriminate between posterior wall of nasopharynx, staged with nasopharynx, and pharyngeal tonsil, staged with oropharynx. Both sites are coded to ICD-O-3 code C111 **Note 2:** The nasopharynx consists of the following * Postero-superior wall: extends from the level of the junction of the hard and soft palates to the base of the skull (C110, C111) * Lateral wall: including the fossa of Rosenmuller (C112) * Inferior wall: consists of the superior surface of the soft palate (C113) **Note 3:** The following are included in the nasal fossa: margin of the choanal orifices, including the posterior margin of the nasal septum. **Note 4:** In addition to directly assigning TNM, Summary Stage 2000 (SS2000) must be captured. If directly assigning SS2000, use the *Nasopharynx* chapter on page 62 of the [SS2000 on-line manual](http://seer.cancer.gov/tools/ssm/SSSM2000-122012.pdf#page=62).
