CS Site-Specific Factor 4

Distance to Proximal Edge of Tumor from Incisors

Notes

**Note 1**: The location of the primary cancer site is defined by the position of the upper (proximal) edge of the tumor in the esophagus. The distance from the incisors to the proximal edge of the tumor is collected in this Site-Specific Factor. The location of the tumor's proximal edge within the esophagus may be described based on imaging, esophagoscopy, or surgical results. **Note 2**: Record the distance from the incisors to the proximal edge of tumor to the nearest centimeter (cm). **Note 3**: Calculate the distance to the proximal edge of tumor if the distance to the distal edge and the length of the tumor is known.

Code Description
000 OBSOLETE DATA REVIEWED AND CHANGED V0203
"Involved" edge distance is not appropriate. Code distance to the proximal edge of the tumor as described in the Notes, or use code 999 if distance unknown.

Proximal edge of tumor involved
001-060 1 - 60 centimeters (cm)
(Exact distance from incisors to proximal edge of tumor to the nearest cm)
888 OBSOLETE DATA CONVERTED V0200
See code 988

Not applicable for this site
988 Not applicable: Information not collected for this case
(May include cases converted from code 888 used in CSv1 for "Not applicable" or when the item was not collected. If this item is required to derive T, N, M, or any stage, use of code 988 may result in an error.)
